Saturday, and Sunday Too!

I am seeing a trend here; I got bored telling about my vacation from last Spring, and never finished. I started a detailed account of UltraBob’s visit, and didn’t finish that. Perhaps I have a very short attention span. Come to think of it, no “probably” about it. Anyway, I’m trying to turn over a new leaf (a very tiny one) and finish something. So….....the rest of UltraBob’s visit (at least until I get bored again)
Refer back a couple of posts to “A LIttle Bit of Saturday”
To recap the last exciting post, UltraDad, UltraBob and I were in Pocatello, and they had just picked me up after my WeightWatcher training. We then traveled to the mall to look at the cell phones that the boys had been scoping out. They were impressed with the saleswoman at a particular store. She seemed very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, just as we arrived and selected our phones, she went off duty and we got Miss Flirty/SpaceCadet. It seemed to me that she was so busy telling us about the books she had read, her lack of interest in having children and engaging UBob in witty conversation that she could hardly bring herself to tackle the problem of giving us our phone contracts and correctly programming the phones. It took about 2 hours I think. I really don’t think I am exaggerating. And we later discovered that she had programmed them incorrectly, but that’s another story for perhaps another day.
Free at last, we scooted over to Heather’s house where we found her and Heath in a bit of a pickle. They have three cats; Callie, Nimbus and Rocky. Rocky, the new boy, tho neutered, had been staking a claim on the area underneath the computer and stereo in their house. Heath was knee deep in the project of cleaning up, a tangle of electronic cords and cleaning supplies spread before him, so we had to go to dinner without him. Now, Heath loves the cats as much as Heather does, but he tentatively asked us if we thought Rocky might like to live outside on the farm! We had to tell him that a city boy like Rocky probably wouldn’t make it with toughs like “Tree Cat” on the loose. When we returned to their house after dinner, we had a very nice time sitting on their porch and just visiting. Heath claimed that he didn’t mind missing dinner out and had, in fact, already eaten. I think Heather needs to hang on to that boy. The drive home was in the dark, but on the whole, a very nice day.
Sunday was actually the big day; my 50th Birthday. UltraBob and I took a very nice bike ride. I let him ride mine, and I borrowed the sister-in-law’s that had been left at my house. She is rather short, so its a kid-sized bike. Still, I did better than I thought I would! Then Ultra went to church with me, which was wonderful. Everyone was so glad to see him and so happy to hear about my terrific surprise!
Heather and Heath drove out mid afternoon, and we were all invited to Uncle Bill and Aunt Patty’s for an early dinner. They grilled Salmon; it was delicious. It was so nice not to have to worry about food and clean-up. When we got back to our house, Johnny had arrived to begin his days off work. We kind of goofed around outside throwing some cheesy little plastic boomerangs until Johnny found his real one, and I got out the frisbee. Then Johnny had an idea for a really fun “party game”! He had played it with some of the guys at his fire station. He had a football; not really a nerf, but kind of like one. The rules were as follows; everyone stands in a circle and the football is thrown to the person of your choice. You can throw with only one hand, and catch with only one hand. If you flub up, you are out.
It was a blast! The star player was Heath. He is quite coordinated. The funniest was Heather. Very soon, Heather and I started getting second and third chances, or we would always been out right away. We played that til it was too dark to see any more. Then, inside for a little CRANIUM! UltaMom was in game-playing heaven! We also enjoyed the game Bob had brought with him: Chronology. He was surprisingly bad at the game, and ended up leaving it here to make room in the suitcase for more alluring booty for the return trip to Japan.
All too soon, it was Monday and time to return to the real world. And it was all too soon, cause I don’t think I made it to bed before 2 AM. I had to go back to work, and UltraBob to Boise to catch a plane. I was glad that he stopped at my bank on his way thru so I could introduce him to everyone in sight.
Well, I did it. I finished the whole thing. Maybe I’ll yet tackle the end of that 6 month old vacation tale!
Love you Ultra, Honey. Thanks again for a memorable 4 days.
UltraMom
Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday. I’m glad you finished the story. I’ve played Chronology with UB and he is bad at it, indeed. But so was I, so I’m glad you have it now.
I Loved that you came and surprised your Ultra Mom for her birthday. It will be the best thing you could have done to make it a perfect week and special day. I am so proud of all involved to make it a great surprise. Good story Ultra sister. Love ultraubi
UltraUbi,
Perfect name for you on this site! I’ve been pondering what to use for quite a while. Both UltraSister and UltraAunt were too unspecific!
We had a great time while I was out. I just wish I would have had time to stop by and see you. Next time I’m out I’ll definitely visit, and I’ll bring along UltraGirl ‘cause let’s face it: when people see me out there they say, “Oh hi, where is UltraGirl?” Mom was searching the house for her, and then was all depressed that I was neither UltraGirl or UltraSister.
for the record we used an actual regulation sized football in the game. “nerf” my eye!
