Loyalty Day: What an insult!
Sunday, May 4th, 2003
This is too much!!!!! We have to get this jackass out of the White House as soon as we can. One would think that lying (or “emphasizing” for those completely incapable of thought) his way into being able to send American men and women to die to make his friends richer; stealing the election in a campaign of dishonesty that they didn’t even bother to cover up; and passing off a assistance for the rich package (no double-taxation of dividends from stock investments for those of you who haven’t figured it out yet) as a leg-up for the common man would be enough to impeach him, but it doesn’t seem to be, so let’s throw in loyalty day.
He has used an unrelated national tragedy and a lie as the foundation to send our men and women to go kill innocent people to bring them democracy. We have lost track of what democracy is in the United States, and most of the people don’t seem to mind! We’ll drive our SUVs to work and call anyone who dares to point out the problems with the way we are doing things a traitor. We’ll consider ourselves patriots when the people we are ostracizing are the real patriots; they are the ones who care enough about the United States to try to fix it, but it is much easier to think that America is number one, and that we are never wrong and suck our thumbs while blaming our problems on everyone else.
To hell with loyalty day, to hell with George Bush, and to hell with any of you in the U.S. who are too complacent to think about what is happening in your country and really get mad. The media you get is no excuse anymore. There have been enough obvious shenanigans that anyone should start to see what’s wrong. Reclaim May 1st and make it May Day as it should be. Not Law Day as it has previously been in the U.S. If this has riled you up, write a couple of letters to your congressmen, or visit their offices if they are close enough, to express your disdain. Then go look at the history of May day on the Internet, and learn that why it having been declared law day and then loyalty day is a series of greater and greater insults to the public.
Oh yeah, one more thing, tell your congress people that you want them to impeach bush, and that they can count on not getting your vote ever again if they don’t publicly push for it, and then stand by your word. If we want the system to work for us, we have to work on the system.
I’m assuming Sako has already written about this (he seems to beat me every time now), but it deserves repeating as often as possible.
UPDATE: Turns out that loyalty day has been around for sometime mixed up with law day, but that Bush wanted to claim it for his own and made and announced the holiday as if it were his own decree. This doesn’t really change my feelings on any of it. Oh yeah, and neither does the fact that Clinton did the same thing with law day, so don’t bother bringing it up.
The views and beliefs expressed by UltraBob are his own and may not necessarily reflect the views of John McDonald, Dynamicduo Incorporated, or the Internet as a whole.
P.S. If you do visit or write your Congressman demand that “reality t.v.” be taken off the air and any contestants, hosts, creators, or viewers of said shows be taken into the street and whipped with chains or you know.. something else that hurts. Also I would like to see Barry White Appointed National Minister of the Funk. Thanks.
I’m curious what you disagree with, then perhaps I could explain more about a certain point. Then again it’s a lot more fun to appoint a National Minister of Funk, who incidentally should be George Clinton or one of his p-funk allstars, than to discuss issues that really matter in in your own country.
Not trying to get down on you, however America was founded on the principals of questioning authority, and there is nothing more American than trying to fix what’s wrong with it. Give me something to debate with you about and I’ll tell you why I think I’m right.
Incidentally, I never actually said that I did disagree with you, just that I didn’t necessarily agree. Second of all, having fun is what I do, I’m about the humor, if you don’t like that then maybe we should rethink this collaboration.
By the way, just some advice. I really don’t mean this to be coming down on you, but I just think you might want to know. I think your political viewpoints would be better recieved if you would go over them once or twice after you write them in the fury of the moment to perhpas rethink certain points, or at the least spellcheck them. Also, saying to hell with people that might not agree with you? Why is it that you “real patriots” have to assume that everyone else are just a bunch of jackasses? Like I have repeatedly said, I don’t feel myself informed enough to really debate this issue, and it is entirely possible that you are right, I just think that at times you come off as rather condescending toward the views of others. Thankyou and goodnight. I love you Chicago!
Oh and yes.... I appreciate the irony of my typo that I made in the same sentence in which I told you to spellcheck.... It wasn’t intentional, but I really wish it had been. Also I really wasn’t trying to start a fight there, I was trying to seriously makes some suggestions on your political writings, hope it is recieved as such.
Johnny, I appreciate your humor, and wish we saw more of it on the site. I enjoyed the National Minister of Funk comment, and responded to it. However, when you are using the humor to belittle my statements with no alternative substance, I feel slightly offended.
Incidentally, I nearly always spellcheck my posts before I send them out, and I think you’ll find a much lower incidence of typos and misspellings
in my posts that in your own. However, this post was written on a PDA on the train ride, and I didn’t really have the spell check option available to me. However I will run it through a spell checker now that I am back home. I have reread my message twice and find nothing in it that I think needs to be rethunk (if this isn’t a proper word it should be, saying it is so satisfying). As you may have noticed for a long time I have been saying how much I love the American people and think that they are having the wool pulled over their eyes. By now it seems to me that only a complacent sheep who doesn’t want to know what’s going on could miss it, so I said to hell with those who don’t bother to find out that their country is being destroyed while they support it. I include you in this with no apologies if you unashamedly don’t know about these issues. Oh yeah, and the use of the word jackass to describe “President” Bush, was me being nice because our Mother reads the site. I am condescending to towards the views of people who don’t bother to take a little effort to educate themselves, and I’m fine with that.
As for terminating this collaboration, we are finally getting into the kind of conflict and debate that I hoped this site would inspire from the beginning. Why would I want to terminate that? If you disagree with what I write, please disagree loudly and boisterously (and if possible informedly [another one I’m not sure about actually being a word]), and I’ll do the same.
Also anyone else who has an opinion on these matters feel free to jump in and roast either one of us. We can take it.
