No one on either side or at any point during this discussion or the discussion about the presidential election identified the candidates stands on gay marriage as a deciding factor in their decision of who to vote for for president. This is with good reason: both stated personal opposition to gay marriage.
I never claimed to agree with Barack Obama on everything, I obviously disagree with him on gay marriage to some degree.
As for my missing post calling Barack Obama narrow-minded and ignorant:

Second, Barack Obama has stated in much more detail what his position is on gay marriage. Namely that he personally opposes gay marriage, but strongly supports civil unions giving the same rights as marriage to gay unions. He believes that the gay marriage question should be left to the states, but expressed his personal opposition to proposition 8 as divisive and discriminatory. Jessica has chosen to weigh in on this very emotional topic, but has declined to provide much in the way of detail. Naturally this results in a number of angry responses, and I have encouraged Jessica to explain her views more completely.

Marriage is a legal state - and these bans mean that people have less rights because of their sexuality.
