I’ve kind of lost interest in doing this. As many of you know, I am going on vacation to Hawaii for a week starting tomorrow. Maybe I’ll feel differently about it when I get back. If not, you probably won’t see updates here nearly as often. I might put more of my energy into other projects. Maybe Johnny has the right idea only writing about once or twice a month. That makes for a really boring website though. We’ll see what happens.
Now in my CD Player: Hot Dog in a Hallway from the album “Heavy Petting Zoo” by NOFX or if you are in Japan, click here
Just a reminder, and I wish I would have given it before a whole bunch of traffic came in from Metafilter. You too can have your title (with credit) up in our masthead. View this for details.
The short version is if you make a graphic for the header that is no wider than 768px and no taller than 100px and we like it, we will put it up to be among the titles randomly cycling on our pages.

I’ve added a title to the site in honor of Anitpixel.com’s Jeremy Hedley, Jeremy’s Magic Buttons have taken the world by storm. If you aren’t seeing the title (you’ll recognize it when you see it) press reload until it comes up.
I wish I could contribute something to the Internet that would have such widespread utility and appeal. I’ll keep plugging away, and maybe someday I’ll figure out what that can be.
Oh yeah, here is what Jeremy’s Magic Icons have inspired.
It sucks to be working hard dizzy, with a bad head cold.
Missed the Japan Blogger Meetup tonight too.
I hope I’m feeling better by Hawaii
Well we had a good time without you anyway :p
Get better now - you’re boring when you’re sick.
DUDE.
Since I just barely finished singing Jeffrey Zeldman’s praises, and publicly pondering preordering his publication (absolutely awesome alliteration), I should also congratulate him on his upcoming wedding. I imagine I’ll be announcing something similar soon. The girl and I have been seeing each other for nearly 8 years now, so I guess it is appropriate that we should get married sometime soon.
A large part of the reason we havent, for me, is that it takes a lot of time and energy (not to mention cold hard cash) to do such a thing. Time is one of the resources that always seems to be in shortest supply for me. Another issue is that the girl’s family is in Japan and doesn’t speak English with the exception of the venerable and highly useful phrase “This is a pen” (read Zis is a pen), while my folks are in Idaho in the United States and speak less Japanese than the girl’s folks speak English.
From the girl’s point of view, I think the single largest wedding blocking factor is that she is waiting for the perfect time. I on the other hand am firmly of the view that sometime we’ll just have to do it because there will never be a perfect time. She would also like to quit her job when we get married. Unfortunately, I am in the stages of getting a new business underway, and will not be able to provide that for her in the immediate future, although I would very much like to. She may be able to quit work, but she’d still have to come to work at my company, which I think she’d find is much harder than the government job she has now.
Like I say, we’ll probably make a similar announcement sometime soon (soon is a VERY subjective word so be careful about making insinuations from it), but first let us go enjoy the sun and surf in Hawaii next week. Congratulations to Jeffrey Zeldman, and anyone else out there reading this who will soon get, or has recently gotten married. I wish you all the happiness in the world, minus the amount that the girl and I will need.
(Also I need to think of a romantic and cool way to propose to her when I do it, and all my creative energy is going into other things right now.)
Go for it, Ultrabob! Would like to share this post of mine with you, but you got to say it out loud though.
You Say It Best When You Say Nothing At All
Dude you are going to Hawaii, I’m sure a romantic opportunity in which to propose will appear.
Getting married is easy - living together is the tricky part and you’ve already got that bit pretty much sorted out.
Ken Loo:
Thanks, it’s a nice song I guess, but it seems really cliched to me. Like what I would write if I was trying to write a really straightforward, cheesy, generic love song. I must be jaded.
Gomichild:
Man, no sooner do I ask you to let me enjoy the sun and surf in Hawaii first, than you are pushing me to propose there. C’mon! Let me relax will ya? Geez!
with fondest regards,
UltraBob
Why don’t you run a submissions “contest” like you have for your banner? “How should UltraBob propose?”
Oh yeah, and don’t call me dude!

When it is released (very soon) I really want to get this book. I’m considering putting in an advance order. I get a lot out of Jeffrey Zeldman’s website and other websites he is involved in such as A List Apart (This site is currently on a hiatus for Zeldman to finish the book mentioned above, but should be back soon. It is packed with useful articles already, and though I think I’ve read the whole thing once, I still refer to it.) and The Web Standards Project a great source for following developments in web standards and finding out how to do your part to push for their implementation.
I don’t only read Zeldman for his views on web design. He often mentions important developments in the government as it relates to the Internet or freedom of speech or the press. Recently he has pointed out the impending deregulation by the FCC of media organizations. Current rules prevent the unilateral ownership of mass media. This is a really bad development when it comes to being able to get more than one side to a story, and I would encourage you to let your representative know your thoughts on this before it is too late. (It probably already is, but we should try anyway)
At any rate, I was just wondering how many of the readers of this site are into web design enough to be interested in Zeldman’s new book. It is sure to be full of great material, but would a review of the book here bore you all, or be a useful resource? Let me know ok?
You are aware of the fact that a review copy of this book is available to you right now, aren’t you? I mean, if you are planning to review it here anyway, why not do it for TPC as well?
I’ll take it!

It’s on its way. Lucky for you I read your blog entry before claiming that title for myself.
I’ve just set up our site so that we can do reviews easily, and so I thought I’d put up a review to start it off. I’m really tired right now, so I’ll try to rewrite it again when I’m a little bit more coherent.
I bought Splinter Cell for the X-Box a few weeks ago in Akihabara, and it is an amazing game. The graphics are fantastic, the character movement is believable, and the dynamic lighting effects in the game blew me away. The game play is very challenging without being impossible. I haven’t had much time to play it recently, so I haven’t quite finished clearing it in standard mode, but I really look forward to trying it out at the difficult level. I’ll give you a synposis of the game story when I rewrite this. For now I am going to bed.

The blogging urge waxes and wanes for me, but I’ve definitely made a committment to writing something every day. Keep going through the troughs.
Hope you return from your holiday refreshed. Don’t log in while you’re gone!
A few good referrals like monkey rape and the muse will return before you know it.
Please, no pictures of you in a coconut bikini upon your return.
Don’t quit, I’m your biggest fan. I love it when you. show your muscels on the beach
